Welcome to Book Scrutiny
There are many blogs out there about books. What makes this one different? You need to read to see for yourself but I think you will find something different here. Customer reviews and many blogs about books tend to give the author’s opinion or read like book reports, simply regurgitating the plot. They rarely help the reader make the decision of whether to buy a book or not. I am not here simply to tell you whether I liked a book or not or what was good and bad about it. A true book review explores what a book offers to the reader and in many cases goes into more depth than the reader needs to make a decision to buy a book that he or she will enjoy.
It is my purpose to shoot straight about what books offer to the reader without writing one thousand plus word articles. I may at times offer something similar to real literary criticism i.e. discussing themes of the work and such but primarily I intend to write about what individual books offer the reader. You will not see me blast a book for being too complex or for being too simple. I will not complain about an author’s writing. Occasionally, I may explore how one literary convention or another is put to use in a work or contributes to the overall effect of the book. Ultimately, what I hope to provide is a quickly readable valid assessment of the books I have read so that readers will get exactly what they expect from the books they decide to buy.
